Early Preview of May Property Auction

Here is a “sneak preview” ahead of what promises to be an exciting May property auction in Harrogate.

Lots range in price from £50,000 to £900,000 in one of the most diverse and interesting sale events we've had for some time.

FSS auctioneer Richard Smailes said he and his team were looking forward to showing prospective bidders around the properties, which include a Grade II Listed character cottage in Knaresborough, a farm with planning permission for two individual barn conversions near Kirkby Overblow (pictured) and a prime commercial property right on the Market Place in Knaresborough.

“The properties we have for sale on May 17 are going to appeal to quite a range of buyers including buy-to-let landlords, investors, property developers and individuals who want a project to do up.

“What is quite extraordinary is the quality of the lots and the character of some of the residential sites on offer.”

Former Station Master’s House

One of these residential properties is the former Station Master’s house in Wormald Green, between Harrogate and Ripon. With a guide price of £320,000 this is a substantial home with a useful annexe that could be used as a workshop, office or living accommodation for a dependent relative. The property occupies a large site and as such offers many possibilities.

Character Cottage

Rose Cottage in Knaresborough is another charming property which has a guide price of £180,000. This is a Grade II Listed detached character cottage that is in need of updating but has some lovely original features.

Farm with Planning for Barn Conversions

Cliff House Farm in Kearby near Kirkby Overblow is another residential development opportunity with planning permission already approved to create two separate barn conversions from outbuildings and a further outbuilding conversion to create an extension to the current farmhouse.  The guide price is £900,000.

Rustic Country Cottage

An attractive rustic country cottage in Great Ouseburn, between Harrogate and York, is going under the hammer with a guide price of £100,000. The cottage is in a sought after village location and would make an ideal project for someone looking for a property to update and modernise.

Landmark Commercial Property

It is rare to see a property as prominent as 40-42 Market Place in Knaresborough come onto the market and this lot offers potential buyers an excellent investment opportunity. With a guide price of £450,000 the buyer will be acquiring a substantial portion of Market Place with excellent storage facilities to the rear of the property. There are four apartments above the commercial premises and the whole building is let producing an income of £41,897 per annum.

Garage Storage

There are two separate garage storage lots available in the May auction. In Ripon, nine self-contained concrete garages are being offered with a guide price of £50,000. All of the garages are currently let and produce an annual income of £3,888. A separate lot of six brick built garages in Knaresborough, five of which are currently rented out producing a monthly income of £162, is being offered with a guide price of £60,000.
