£1.25m Storage and Office Development Launches on Site of Former Workshop

A new three-storey office block and storage facility has launched on the site of a former cycle workshop in Ilkley.

The derelict workshop, formerly JD Cycles, was bought by Ilkley-based Town & Country Properties three years ago and has since been redeveloped for business and community use.

Phase one of the project included a 250K investment in the main building to create six Grade A office units, four of which have been pre-let to local businesses. The remaining main ground floor office unit and a further small office have just been released for rent.

Work will begin later this year on the second phase to build seven new storage units for rental with the completed development valued at £1.25m.

Mike Hanson of Town and Country Developments said: “The JD Cycles site was a stalwart of Ilkley in its heyday and well-known with cycling enthusiasts throughout the region as the place to go for bike sales, repairs and service.

“When we redeveloped the site we were keen to create something that would add real value to the local community with space for growing local businesses and storage facilities that will be used by both commercial customers and local residents,” he added.

The units are being marketed by Harrogate agent FSS.

Dan Brumfitt of FSS said: “The launch of this standard of office space in the heart of Ilkley has generated a lot of interest and is a valuable addition to the local economy, bringing new jobs to the town.

“The flagship ground floor unit which has just been released to market extends to 1,620 sq ft and will encourage larger businesses to the area or prevent existing growing firms from having to look outside the town for premium space.”
