Landlords:

Statutory tenancy deposit schemes apply to all assured shorthold tenancies, where a deposit is taken after 6th April, 2007 (this includes renewals to existing tenants).

As a landlord you have the option of transferring the tenants deposit to a Government backed custodial scheme, or, to ourselves who have been approved members of The Dispute Service for over 3 years and are authorised to hold deposits under the terms of the legislation. Unfortunately a landlord has no option but to transfer funds into one scheme or another. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to three months rent and a landlord being unable to recover possession of their property.
